Join the "Odd Woman Rush"

It's been a slower week (thanks to a new job and the holidays) on the blog itself but a fairly busy one behind the scenes. One thing we've been working on is a new feature called "Odd Woman Rush" in which we plan on picking the brains of the many talented and creative females in the hockey blogosphere.

For those OWR-eligible ladies we haven't yet reached, we figure it's a good idea to put this little "Classified Ad" in the blog.

Here's an edited version of the e-mail we sent out to prospective contributors (with some of the aside-heavy stuff taken out to spare your eye rolling):

Despite the good intentions of HLOG, there's rarely - if ever - been a particularly focused "meeting of the minds" when it comes to all the great female bloggers out there. Though not the original inspiration, an old Deadspin feature called "Waxing Off" captures some of the spirit of what I'd like to see. Here's an example from a while ago http://deadspin.com/5052322/the-princess-diaries-deadspin-ladies-deconstruct-erin-andrews

The idea is to have a weekly/monthly/bi-weekly topic and get some of the best female bloggers to riff on it. At first, I figure that the question/prompts will be pretty simple and then occasionally we could touch on timely or more complicated issues.

(I originally tried to start a hockey blog called Odd (Wo)Man Rush with a friend of mine, but she couldn't do it. The title is not necessarily an indictment of your normalcy, just a typical pun title.)

So with all  that, what do you all think? Would you like to be involved? Heavily or slightly? Am I an evil pandering douche male? Is the answer yes, but you're still interested?

Do tell.

First question/prompt (and possibly the most obvious):

"Why are you a blogger? What pushed you across the threshold to go from fan/journalist/whatever to someone who publishes hockey posts? Did it have anything to do with "proving" your knowledge? Describe your motivation for starting your blog(s)."

Let's hear it,

-Evil Pandering Douche Male.

As one of the original Waxing Off gals from back before it jumped the shark and went off the rails (simultaneously- yeah, it can happen), I have two thoughts:

1. This is a fantastic idea, and can't wait to read it.

2. I wouldn't use Waxing Off as a model for anything, ever. Just ask Rick Chandler...

Bravo for this idea, Evil Pandering Douche Male. Bravo.

I personally think that Jumped the Shark maybe jumped the shark. Therefore I use "Jump the Cheesburger" from Trailerpark Boys.

As one of the final Hloggers, I'd be in. I started blogging because it was going in an online journal ANYWAY and I figured I might as well segregate the sports crap from the life crap for my friends who didn't want one or the other.

It wasn't until later it became a proving knowledge thing :-)
